Limit your Entourage

The famous saying “Less is more” feels perfect in this situation. Bringing in your entire squad to the bridal salon is a Big NO! NO! Yes! We know you love your squad, but trust us, each one of them has their own mind and you’re only going to land up being overwhelmed with all their mixed opinions thrown at you. So, limit your gang to one or two of your friends (probably your bridesmaids!) get ready with your search.

I remember reading somewhere bffs is a contentious term in some demographics. Also, we generally benefit from use of “bridesmaid” word in our articles. Pls keep in mind for future as well.

Book an Appointment:

Not all bridal salons are going to be at your service, just because you’ve decided to call it a day and head out shopping, especially if it’s the Peak season. To avoid this kind of disappointment, it’s always key to schedule an appointment and head over to the salon, thus snagging all the attention from the sales executive.

Shop for the Body you have “NOW”

The biggest blunder you can do yourself is buying a dress size which is five times smaller than the size you currently are. Yes! We know you’ve been opting healthy and sweating it out at the gym, but just because you’ve switched carrots for cookies, doesn’t give you the lease to go and pick something so small, which you might just not fit in on you big day. Save yourself this blunder and pick a size more realistic, keeping in mind your body shape, cause no matter how many pounds you loose your body frame will be about the same.

Move around!

You’ve been standing tall on the pedestal in front of the mirror, getting a 360-degree view of all the dresses you’re trying on, but hey! That isn’t enough! After all you need to not just walk down the entire aisle, but also dance on the floor during your reception. Move around and check how really comfortable are you dancing around, because you definitely won’t be standing still in it all day long.

Make way for the right Shapewear!

The right dress calls for the right spanx! Your dress shopping can be totally a waste of time without the right undergarments. We all know the transformative powers of right corset and bra. It takes away few inches from your body making you slimmer, but gives you the perfect shape and your dress lands up looking spectacular.

Dress a little

We’re not asking you to go all out glam with your hair do and makeup, but definitely don’t land up at the salon, as if you’ve just rolled out your bed too. A tad bit of makeup and toned- down hair, will give you a better picture of how your dress will look on you on the big day. Now, don’t go and empty the entire foundation bottle down, you don’t need foundation stains all over your dresses!

Right Shoe is the Key

Have you ticked of the shoe shopping off your list yet? If yes, nothing like it, but if that aspect is still pending try getting along a similar pair when you’re heading of dress hunting. The heels and structure of your shoes can dramatically change the look and the fall of the dress, especially your hemlines.

Fix the Budget

Trust us, it’s more than easy to go all gaga over a dress which is way over your budget. So set a budget and stick to it, cause we all know alterations, shoes accessories, veils aren’t coming free. So, don’t go and try gowns outside your range just because you want to give a try. We all know that spells blunder if you land up falling in love with the dress

Gown Shopping Is a Marathon, Not a Sprint

Last minute is not the direction you want to be heading, especially when it comes to your dress, cause the only thing that we can imagine is you without a dress or without the dress of your dreams on you Big day. Now, what can be worse than that? To avoid this last minute stint, plan months in advance which will give you ample of time to roam around and select the best without feeling rushed.

Do Your Research

Before you even set foot in the bridal salon, your research must be done. You can’t be walking with a blank face not knowing what you want and expecting the sales guy to pull out something magical.

Bring out all bridal magazine, get pinning and keep in mind what is it you’re looking for, while keeping other options open, as most salons don’t have all their gowns out in display. In order for the sales guy to pull out what you’re looking for, he needs to get a feel as to what you truly want.

Eat First

Last but not the least, make sure you’ve eaten something before you step out. The last thing you need is to be in a grumpy mood, eventually hating everything you lay your eyes on. No time for a proper meal? Ask your friend to get you a take away or carry some nuts. Grabbing a bite and satisfying your empty stomach always helps.
